With support from people like you HANDEF has continued to reach out to people with special needs in the area of mobility aids, education support, skill and entrepreneur development, medical support, counseling, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS education.
Resource library & Braille embossing unit
The resource library which is linked to the Braille unit, provides an opportunity for clients, staff and members of the community to access resources on disability and social development. Some literature in the library are also produced in Braille in order for clients with visual impairment to access them as well.
Mobility aid assembly and maintenance,
In order to ensure consistent access to mobility aids, HANDEF established the mobility aid assembly and maintenance unit, where wheelchairs and other mobility aids are assembled and or repaired.
HIV Counseling and Testing unit
Research has shown that people with disabilities are vulnerable to HIV. We have therefore established a counseling and testing unit where people with special needs receive well processed information as well as testing for HIV.
Information Technology Centre (ICT)
As the world is fast becoming a global village, with information technology as the major tool for business and social networking, HANDEF has therefore ensured that qualified people with disabilities who are interested in acquiring skills in information technology are given the opportunity. Graduates are empowered with equipment.
In furtherance of our vision to make people with disability employable and ultimately employers of labour, we provide skill development in the area of fashion and beading. Graduates of this program are provided with money, materials and equipment to start up upon graduation.
